Donna Dudley

Employee background:

My career in the medical field began when I enrolled in Medical Terminology and Transcriptionist courses.  In 1981-1993 I began working at Baptist Medical Center South. There I worked as a Unit Clerk and transcribed physician orders. In 1993, I became employed with Montgomery Cancer Center in Medical Records.

What is your title and what do you do at CARO?

I’m a Health Information Specialist at CARO. My role consists of a variety of tasks including processing of all documents received electronically, obtaining documentation from third party portals and communicating with third party facilities and reviewing reports.  As well as completing basic document corrections.  Answering and routing incoming calls, distributing and updating charts along with assisting with all paper chart processes.

How did you become a part of CARO?

In 1993, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. We were very close and being by her side and seeing the care and compassion the team provided here at CARO was the driving force that prompted me to complete an application for employment and the rest was history.

What do you like most about working at CARO?

The brilliant, compassionate team I get to work with and learn from every day. I love working in a family centered work environment. Our staff and providers treat others with kindness, empathy, and care, while providing sensitivity in their communication, and thoughtfulness with the patients we serve.

When you’re not at work, what are some of your hobbies and interests?

I spend my free time with family, reading inspirational books, binge watching TV series and traveling to the beach.
