Employee background:

I began working in the medical field in 1994 as a medical records clerk at a multi-specialty medical office. I spent over 18 years there working in all aspects of the business side of healthcare, including medical records, patient registration, billing, coding, accounting, human resources, and management.

While continuing to work full time, I went back to college and completed my education earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Faulkner University in 2008. In 2012, I accepted a position as office manager at another local medical office. While there, I obtained my CPC certification from AAPC. I spent five years there before joining the CARO team in 2017 as the Business Office Manager.

What is your title and what do you do at CARO?

I am the Business Office Manager at CARO. I oversee and direct the daily operations of the business office, including front desk, scheduling and registration, as well as billing and coding.

How did you become a part of CARO?

Our wonderful HR Manager contacted me after my profile on LinkedIn matched the qualifications they were looking for in a business office manager. I interviewed with Cindi and Jan and a few days later, they offered me the position.

What do you like most about working at CARO?

There is so much that I love about working at CARO. The family environment is awesome! Everyone is always ready to celebrate with each other when we have exciting things take place in our life, whether it is the birth of a child or grandchild, a graduation, or a wedding. We are also concerned about each other in the tough times as well, and do what we can to ease the burden.

The physicians at CARO are all about taking care of their employees and go above and beyond to do so. Finally, the care and compassion that the CARO team has for their patients is the absolute best. We all have one goal, and that is for every patient to receive the best high quality medical treatment with care and compassion every day.

I am often asked if I get tired of driving over 120 miles round trip every day to work. Does it get long some days? YES! However, when you LOVE what you do, it is worth every mile! There’s no other place I’d rather work than CARO!

When you’re not at work, what are some of your hobbies and interests?

My family is my heart, so when I am not at work you will find me spending time with my husband, my two daughters, my son-in-law, and my precious grandson, Caden. The beach is my happy place and my retreat, but I also enjoy camping and fishing on the Alabama River.
